This Christmas tree version was on my list for a long time. It is not as easy as my last DIY hanging tree made with branches and rope only, but it is nice that you don’t need a place where to hang it on. You can have it on the ground, just as a normal tree.
However, you do need some tools for building this tree:
- wood for creating a support at the base of the tree
- screws – optional if you have a big piece of wood that can offer enough stability for the tree
- a metal rod for screwing on the branches
- a saw – though this is optional if you can break the wood to the size
- a drill for drilling the place for the metal rod and each branch in the middle
How to make it:
- First, go in the forest for some dry wood. I picked dry and wet branches from the ground and had to dry them home some more.
- Create the base for the tree. I used a saw, drill and screws to create mine. But it can be a lot more simple if you have a bigger block of wood or even a tree stump that you can drill a hole in the middle and offer enough stability for the tree.
- Drill a hole in the middle of the the base for the metal rod.
- Then drill a hole in each branch, starting with the longest and ending with the shortest.
- Screw the branches on the metal rod and it is ready to be decorated.
- Add your favorite decorations, pack it with lights and enjoy it over the Christmas period. I made mine tiny and it is very cozy and wholesome to have it around.
