Apple pie with puff pastry

Nothing can compare with the smell of apple pie, full of cinnamon during a cold winter day. Make it fast out of store-bought puff pastry and it is the perfect fast dessert.

This dessert is easy to make, fairly fast (if you don’t  hate grating apples as I do), and it tastes absolutely amazing. It is both moist from the apples, crunchy and glossy from the pastry and yogurt on the top. Here’s how I make it!

Servings:  ~25 pieces
Baking time: 30 min
Difficulty: easy

Ingredients

  • 500 g of puff pastry
  • 9-10 apples (I used golden type with peel included)
  • sugar to taste
  • 3-4 tbsps of bread crumbs
  • cinnamon to taste
  • 2 tbsp of butter
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 3-4 tbsp of yogurt

Directions

  1. Grate the apples (I left the skin on) and saute them on medium fire with sugar and cinnamon to taste and 4 tbsps of bread crumbs until they are well combined and a bit warm.
  2. While the apples cool down, stretch one layer of pastry on your tray.
  3. Brush it with melted butter.
  4. Add the apples in the middle and spread them evenly.
  5. Add the second layer of pastry. Poke it in multiple times with a fork, so that it won’t inflate and break in the oven.
  6. Brush it with a bit of butter and also with an egg yolk mixed with yogurt.
  7. Cut it to the desired shapes and sizes.
  8. Place it in a preheated oven at 175 for 30-35 min.
  9. It can be served hot or cold, both options are delicious.
